Book Kashiwaya Honten in Bessho Onsen (Nagano)—— Composed of 15 guest rooms both in the main building and the detached guest house, it is an old onsen ryokan with a history of over a century, and offers a traditional Japanese space making good use of wood. There are several types of hot springs including rental open-air baths outside the rooms for private use, gender-segregated large public baths, and others. This ryokan lies adjacent to the famous Kitamuki Kannon Temple and the Joraku-ji Temple. Many other Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples are also located in the nearby area.
Access: One hour 15 minutes by JR Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Ueda Station, then 30 minutes by Ueda Electric Railway to Bessho-Onsen Station and 2-min shuttle bus ride from there
