Book Minamikan in Izumo-Tamatsukuri Lake Shinji Onsen (Shimane)—— This ryokan boasts a Japanese garden designed in harmony with the commanding view of Lake Shinji and its great food. The 16 guest rooms include those with scenic baths that offer a bird’s-eye view of the lake, and a type of particularly luxurious rooms called “Mifumi” which are detached from the main building and have their own fine view onsens. Tai-meshi, a rice dish with minced sea bream, is served as breakfast and is very popular.

Access: 35 minutes by bus from Izumo Airport to Matsue Station, then 10 minutes by taxi
