Hot spring resort – Akiu

The area possesses a rich history, with examples such as the 29th Emperor of Japan using the area for bathing therapy and famous daimyo (feudal lords) of the Date Clan using the area as a private hot spring. The Akiu hot spring is one of the three oldest hot springs in Japan (together with the Arima and Dogo hot springs).
