Book Yufuin Yasuha in Yufuin Onsen (Oita)—— It is a hidden ryokan located on a quiet upland at a short distance away from the centre of the hot spring town. 8 detached rooms and 3 rooms on the ground floor of the main building, out of all 19 guest rooms, are equipped with private open-air baths. While rooms on the main building’s first floor do not have private onsen, there are 3 rental baths for private use – one of them available only to guests staying on the first floor – and a large public bath with open-air onsen.

Access: 55 minutes by bus from Oita Airport to Yufuin Station, then 5 minutes by shuttle bus (Advance booking required)

The hot spring here is blue-coloured, which is rare nationwide. The water is transparent when welling up from the earth, but it gradually turns blue with time.
