Beppu Onsen

Beppu Onsen (Oita) is one of the most famous hot spring areas in Japan, with the greatest volume of water discharge and the largest number of spring sources in the country.
Beppu Onsen is divided into eight major zones known as “Beppu Hatto”, and each of them has distinctive spring qualities and medicinal benefits.
Ryokans as well as external onsen facilities can be found in each zone, so ryokan guests can visit several different spas while staying at a single ryokan.
Steam comes out from everywhere, creating a unique atmosphere.
Being near to the sea, many ryokans have open-air baths that command a splendid ocean view.
