Book Shoraiso in Yudanaka Onsen (Nagano)—— An onsen ryokan that opened in March 2024 as an annex of Yorozuya, a ryokan boasting a 200-year history. All five guest rooms, built in the traditional Japanese architectural style, feature private open-air hot spring baths facing courtyard gardens. Guests can also use the Momoyama Bath in the main building, a large public bath that is a Registered Tangible Cultural Property. Dinner features traditional Japanese kaiseki dining that showcases the head chef’s skill, while guests can enjoy a traditional Japanese breakfast.

Access: One hour 30 minute by JR Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Nagano Station, then 45 minute by Nagano Electric Railway to Yudanaka Station and 2-min shuttle bus ride (or 7 minutes on foot) from there (Advance booking required)
