Book Tokinoniwa in Kusatsu Onsen (Gunma)—— Located on a hill at some distance from the central hot spring town of Kusatsu Onsen, it is an atmospheric ryokan with the floor of the whole building being tatami covered. Consisting mostly of washitsu (traditional Japanese-style rooms), it has a total of 64 guest rooms, all equipped with open-air onsen baths. You can also enjoy onsen at the large public bath, which has 23 types of bathtubs including open-air baths, and provides two different types of spring water welling up from two separate spring sources. Thanks to the wide variety of different baths, you can experience spa hopping inside the premises of this ryokan. There are also three rental open-air baths outside the rooms for private use. As to dinner, Japanese kaiseki meals that change from month to month are served in a private space divided by partitions.
