Autumn Leaf Onsens – Mt. Tanigawa in Gunma, in Tokyo suburbs

Mt. Tanigawa（谷川岳）is selected as one of the famous 100 peaks of Japan. It is also known for its beautiful autumn leaves. You can view the most spectacular autumn colors from early to late October.
There are two recommended courses to enjoy sightseeing at Mt. Tanigawa. You can either ride the ropeway to reach the peak, known as “Tenjindaira,” or walk from the ropeway station to a scenic spot called “Ichinokurasawa.” The walk takes about an hour.

Access (Transportation)

(I) Tokyo Station(東京) ——>(1h 05 min by JR Shinkansen [1])——> Jomo-Kogen Station(上毛高原) ——>(30 min by taxi)——> Tanigawadake Ropeway
